The Land Transport Authority (LTA) and SP PowerGrid have decided to ride on the technology wave by
subscribing to SiReNT to better manage their assets. Another agency, the Public Utilities Board's (PUB)
Water Supply (Network) Department, has called for a public tender which would require a SiReNT-compatible
system. These examples show how precise positioning will eventually become an integral part of public
agencies' operations. The benefits are translated into great time, and cost-savings and operational
efficiency by user agencies, especially in their day-to-day inventory checks, facilities maintenance and
ability to pinpoint exact location when responding to incidents.
Chief Surveyor of Singapore, Mr Soh Kheng Peng said: "SLA had set up the SiReNT system as a national
infrastructure so that in the future, all Singaporeans will be able to enjoy the benefits of a high-accuracy
positioning system. We are glad that more agencies are beginning to see the benefits of SiReNT and adopting
it in their work processes and hope that many more will soon follow suit."
